Budget dating ideas that don’t cost a fortune

Let’s call it what it is.
Dating is expensive!
Besides the cost of making yourself look less sasquatchey (pretty sure we’ve financed our beautician’s third salon) and more like the Snapchat Goddess that you are, you have the cost of the date itself – movies, dinners etc., all of which quickly deplete your fun budget. And yes, we always go Dutch!
So before you go and sign up to discount days on various voucher websites check out our date ideas that don’t suck (budget or balls):
In tandem
Most big cities have places where you can hire a tandem bike and which are really affordable (around £40 for the whole day). It’s also also a right hoot and you get to explore your city (and your date’s bottom) more closely. Remember to take a picnic with you to refuel (*wink *wink) at the next park.
Pop-up Wine Bar
Vinery London is hosting another pop-up wine bar this Saturday. Just rock up and sample some delicious wines and pay what you think the night was worth (and based on how much you’ve guzzled away).
Volunteer together
Volunteering together may not be the first thing that pops into your head when you think ‘hot date’ but it can be a really fun and rewarding experience. Head on over to http://www.do-it.org for some ideas and let’s not forget the mayjaaah karma points you score. Who knows, this could be your thing as a couple.
Just have pudding
A girl’s gotta eat, right? So next time you head on to a restaurant, why not ditch the starter and main course and just have one (or four) different desserts to share with your date instead? It will be cheaper and let’s face it, you will have the pudding anyway so you might as well have the brownie, lemon tart and creme brûlée at the same time.
Go to a festival
What’s better than to dance the night away with bae at a festival? Dancing the night away at a free festival of course. Check out this handy guide to find one in your area.

Struggling with rejection?
Every person has experienced the pain of rejection at some point in their life. When you have opened up to someone and given them your trust, it makes you vulnerable and open to hurt. Dating new people comes with the risk of being rejected and that can be very upsetting.
The trouble is that unless you open up, you close yourself off from forming a real connection with someone. So if you are someone who has trust issues, what I’m about to say might sound crazy and you might reject me for saying it. But here goes:
Rejection is good for you.
Huh? Yes, you read that right.
Have I gone mad? Certainly not.
Allow me to elaborate.
Imagine a child growing up, completely shielded from all things bad. Imagine it never falling, never trapping a finger or burning itself on the stove. Never being told not to do something dangerous. Never experiencing fear. How do you think that child would cope in the real world? What kind of person would it grow up to be? Hard to imagine, isn’t it?
A world where there is no hurt, simply doesn’t exist. Life’s lessons make you who you are, they teach you right from wrong and what or who makes you happy. So, rather than dwell on the “Why did this happen to me?” focus on the “How has this made me stronger?”. That’s what I meant by ‘Rejection is good for you’.
Realising that bad things don’t happen to you as a punishment, gives you back control and you will see each challenge as an experience from which you can grow to become a stronger and more confident person. You can chose to be a victim or you can chose to be a victor.
Your reality is yours to create. Might as well make it a great one.
Have you experienced past hurts from which you grew stronger? What did you learn from them?
No, after you! Is chivalry really dead?
Once upon a time there was a damsel in distress. She wailed and cried for her prince to rescue her from the evil entrapment of the king troll. Look! There he comes! Brave and courageous, he slays the troll’s army of fire spitting dragons and after he defeats them, he climbs to the top of the tower to rescue the beautiful princess. Then, on the back of his trusty steed, they ride into the sunset and live Happily Ever After.
Fast forward to the 21st century.
Modern day woman no longer wants to be seen as a helpless creature waiting to be rescued. And right she is! Women want to be seen and treated as the strong and independent beings they are, but if we are being honest with ourselves, women paradoxically ALSO want a manly knight to sweep us off our feet.
But what does this mean for chivalry?
Now cue the poor man who has to figure it all out. “When does she want me to open the door or pay the bill and when not?” No wonder men think we are mysterious creatures from another planet. Why can’t we just say what we want? Men don’t seem to have a problem with that. Or does that kill the romance?
Personally, I love it if a man to opens doors for me or helps me into my coat. That doesn’t mean I’m not equal. I think it’s nice if a man treats me respectfully. It’s all part of making a good impression, part of our courtship. If he’d treat me like one of his mates, I would think he’s not that interested. But that’s me.
Ladies, how do you feel about chivalry? Do you like it or would you rather not have it?
Gents, what are your thoughts? Do you want to be chivalrous and are you afraid to offend a woman? Or do you feel equality should mean equality?

Did you know?
If PlentyMoreFish were a country, it would be larger than The Cook Islands!
…and it’s growing…tremendously. The number of PMF visitors overtook the population of Anguilla only last week.
So what would a plentymorefish.com naked meetup look like? (I hear you ask!)
If daily PMF visitors were to meet up…in the nude, it would look a little bit like this. However, we don’t recommend you doing it as you may get yourself into a spot of bother…probably with the police. 😐
Oh and by the way, this would actually set a new world record!
There we are then. The answers to the two questions I know you were all dying to ask 🙂
*Figures based on daily visitors.
